Alfred Wainwright has to be one of the most famous walkers. He was born into poverty in Blackburn. At the age of 23 he saved for a week’s holiday in the lakes, and the rest, as they say is history.
The pictorial guide that he wrote have been re printed many times over and catapulted him to a television career sharing his love of fell walking and the Lake District.
This book covers The Western Fells and can be used for your own adventures in the fells or allow you to simply get lost in them from your armchair.
